Who is Roman Sympos?
Roman Sympos is an emeritus professor of literature recently retired from the University of Nephelokokkygia, Lagado, Macedonia. He is a scholar of slender, some would say immaterial, means and a direct descendent of the renowned Enlightenment polymath, Martinus Scriblerus. He now resides in the Athens of America, where he was, for a time, the presiding spirit of the Romantics' Symposium, a group of Boston-area faculty and graduate students who met regularly to drink together and discuss the literature of Romanticism, and literature in general.
Professor Sympos likes to think, when his friends aren't doing the thinking for him, that he has talents that the academy has discouraged, but that retirement will nurture and allow to bloom. This is his garden patch: watered by tears, basking in sunny optimism, and rich with the manure of diligence. Watch where you walk.
